This area offers loads of activities, hunting, excellent fishing, hiking and glacier viewing among them. If the great outdoors is you thing then camping and boat hire are two reasons people enjoy this region. Touring of the Kenai fjords is the main reason people visit, offering breathtaking views of the coast many glaciers and inlets with incredible mountain backdrops. Boat trips depart regularly from Seward and make an excellent day trip; whale watching is also part of these tours and provides a memorable experience. Floatplane tours of Alaska also depart from here and several companies in homer and Seward offer these, these tours take glacier viewing to a new level with unparalleled views from air and sea, they can also be used to access some of the more remote and rich fishing areas in Kenai. |
Seward is the main town on the peninsular and gives the best access to the Kenai peninsular national park which offers the best sights in the area. Seward is a beautiful fishing town with white peaks in the background and a great wooden harbour area with wooden buildings making this town feel very Alaskan and how you would expect a small town in this region to look. Because of its small town feel many people touring the area choose to stay in one of the many locally run bed and breakfasts that are situated here. Log cabins are all over the peninsular some with stunning views of the coast some in remote wooded inland areas if its peace and tranquility you are looking for then a log cabin in Kenai will deliver. |
Homer, situated on the west coast of the peninsular
is another town people choose to visit as it provides easy access to
this side of the region. Homer is also incredibly popular with fishermen
as the fishing in the local rivers is particularly reward. |
